hmm I just thought of something..

Slots are $10 a shot... GW Retail is around $40... you get 4 slots in an unmerged slot... aka it divides evenly but the bonus is there merged...

Thats exactly why they priced it that way.

I am afraid of A-net may go down to this road. Selling character slot just a start.

Anyone who is complaining isn't making much sense - as it is if you want more slots you need to do what I and many others did - buy a whole copy of the game to use that way. The WONDERFUL people at anet finally saw that people really wanted the extra space, and that it is reasonable, and probably when they were working on giving us extra slots for Factions ensured an easier way to add more slots. Those who have another account, it's too bad, but you know what - it's a bargain at 10$ If I wanted all 8 of my slots to be playing Factions I'd need to buy 2 copies of Factions - this way I spend 10$ a few times and I'm set with one copy. Add a few more expansions and I'll have saved a ton of money compared to buying extra copies of each. It looks pretty good to me.

A-net should charge $25 for a slot cuz I will get 2 extra slot only if I merge my factions account to original account. that's $49.99 for 2 slots

$49.99 buys you 2 slots, and also Cantha, which is what you are really paying for

I sincerely hope not. Just look what Bethesda have done; they marketed Oblivion primarily as an Xbox 360 title (whereas previous games were PC primary), removed more features from the prequels and have now gone on to charge money for honestly completely worthless sounding mods e.g. horse armour. That's from the previous game where they made 8 free mods.

Now I know it's a business and done to make money but I'd think Guild Wars has sold enough and will continue to sell enough that Anet/NCSoft don't feel the need to start using dubious tactics like removing things/holding them back and then trying to sell them to everyone at extra cost. Brand loyalty and a huge fanbase that generally likes the game is more important than trying to make a quick buck - they will lose customers if they go down that path.

$10 per slot is exactly what you pay for a game you do not link.

4 character slots and 1 storage at $10 each = $50

This is far from a rip off and is exactly the same as buying a brand new account. Since GW is impossible to run 2 instances at the same time withough breaking the user agreement I'd agree with these prices.

if you go back some of the people wanting slots said they would go as high as 15 a slot.

10 is a bargain. you asked (whined) they gave you what you said you wanted now you whine some more

Server goes down - 'hey we have no monthly'

HOW OFTEN IS IT DOWN COMPARED TO THE OTHERS?

I for one am very excited about this. Some quick math tells me that 4 character slots @ $9.99 = $39.96 instead of $49.95 for another account saves me $9.99 plus I dont have to deal with the problems associated with having two accounts. Way to go A-net!!!

This just proves the point that silly Math that Gaile and crew tried to pass as logic why only 2 extra slots - was silly of course. How can we not laugh at that now?

Unfortunately, the cynical truth - more money - has always been the real reason.
RED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GO of, sorry mods/admins, but that is pathetic, when will people learn to shut the hell up?

Whenever an update is out, there is ALWAYS someone who is not happy. This game doesn't cost monthly and have constant down-times *COUGH* WOW *COUGH* and has wonderful graphics that isn't a game that needs a high-end graphics card to play and we get constant updates in 1 of the best ways possibly streamed to us with fast download rates.

And the only way ANet get money is people buying the actual Game itself and a few other minor ways probably somehow.

Also, this feature has been requested for TOO long, now it's out soon, it's coming, sit down, shutup, enjoy the feature. Don't want to buy more slots? Go cry else where.

ANet have plenty of things to pay for and they have a minimal amount of income resources to my view at the moment, they have to pay for Advertisement, Shipment, Staff Wages, Competition Prizes, Merchandise, Servers, etc the list goes on.

Although the next thing on the list, people will be whining to buy more Storage, it's guaranteed and I can't blame them, as with just 4, Storage is too little. But come to think of it, I guess they could just buy another Slot for a Mule but that's just a pain...lol.

Soul Torn: I guarantee they will still give slots with each expansion that includes new professions.
twicky_kid: You can run 2 Guild Wars without breaking any agreements...

haha, good stuff there coldplay. Makes sense to me, except you can always use it as a seperate game and get your moneys worth. $49.99 gets you 4 slots, and all of cantha. If you look at it that way and dont merge then its equal

I think they worked it the only way they could in order to release a full game and not an expansion.

This is great! Now i can have all 8 primary professions on one account and multiple pvp slots. Yay!

I would have paid even more than $10 for additional slots!

Still the same value. The $10 one time charge is cheap for an additional slot that last FOREVER.

I found $50 in just change the other day.

OFF-TOPIC

Oh yeah for Bank Of America users you can have your changed saved for you automaticly. There is a program that uses your debit or checking that will take your change and deposit it into a saving account on every purchase. Example if you bought something that is $3.72 it will round up to $4 and deposit the 0.28 cent into your savings account for you.

Over time that can really add up.

You know, a good point to be made is that you don't have to buy the slots...No one's forcing you, and yet, people still complain about them... You can either shut up and pay up, if that's what you want, or you can do exactly as your doing now and go without the opportunity. It's really that simple...Doesn't really seem like there needs to be that much a big deal about it. Anet needs profit. We need character slots. Unless you plan on picketing the office to save yourself the few dollars between having the slots and not having them, and be able to buy yourself a coke and a bag of chips to placate your boredom, then really. Buy the slots, or don't.

/agree

Perhaps if the price was more reasonable like half what they are asking it might be fine.
